Kelvin revels in a wet Green Hell

Kelvin revels in a wet Green Hell

This past Saturday, the 4th round of the 2016 VLN Championship took place at the Nurburgring Nordschleife, and in typical nature the entire race was run in treacherous rain conditions where visibility was minimal.

Kelvin, competing for the very first time in the Audi R8 LMS on the Nordschleife, revelled in the extremely difficult race conditions, driving his Audi R8 from 27th place on the grid to 2nd in just one 80min stint!

My engineer came on the radio and said “Kelvin, you are now one of the fastest cars on track!”, at first it came as a massive surprise in my first ever race in the R8 on the Nordschleife and in such difficult conditions. I just carried on and began to catch the leaders quite quickly. By the end of the stint I was in P2 and couldn’t believe it. It really was the stint of my career so far!”

Kelvin then handed over to his teamates Stefan Aust and Andreas Zeigler, who would finish the 4hr race. By the end of the race, the #34 Audi R8 LMS of Car Collection Motorsport came across the line in 8th position overall and 6th position in class. At the end of the race, Kelvin was still very upbeat and had positive feedback about the result:

We were not able to defend the podium position towards the end of the race, but Stefan and Andreas did a great job to keep the car in one peace in very difficult conditions. Today we showed what was possible for a PRO-AM entry in a very strong field on the worlds most challenging race circuit! I want to thank Team Car Collection Motorsport for the fantastic team work – it was a weekend I will not forget for a very long time!
